It is therefore important to assess how reliable they are, how effectively they identify and avoid disinformation, and how quickly they can incorporate the results of independent fact-checkers.

The research involves three fact-checking organizations: Poland’s Demagog, Spain’s Maldita, and Croatia’s Faktograf.

The research is conducted on two of the world’s leading search engines, Google and Bing, across three key areas: health, scams, and current news.

The project is co-funded by the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN).
